Terms of use
By using this site you accept the terms below. They are meant to be readable.
Selling what you make
You may sell finished items you have made from the free patterns on this site. You do not need to ask, you do not owe a fee, and you do not have to credit the pattern — though a link back is genuinely appreciated and helps the site.
This covers the ordinary case: a maker selling at a market, on Etsy, at a craft fair, or to friends. It is not a licence for mass manufacture. If you are producing at factory scale, get in touch first.
What you may not do with the patterns
The pattern text and photographs are copyright and stay that way. Please do not:
- republish a pattern, in whole or in substantial part, anywhere else — including as a PDF, a video transcript, a pinned image containing the instructions, or a post on another site;
- sell, bundle or give away the pattern itself, edited or not, credited or not;
- translate a pattern and publish the translation without asking. Ask, and the answer is usually yes.
Linking to a pattern is always fine and needs no permission. Quoting a line or two with a link is fine. Photographing your own finished item and posting it is fine.
Content ownership
Stitch instructions as a sequence of standard abbreviations are not strongly copyrightable in themselves; the written pattern, the notes, the photographs and the arrangement of this site are.
Accuracy, and the limits of it
Every pattern is worked up before it is published and stitch counts are taken from that piece. Even so, tension varies between makers more than almost anything else in this craft. That is why gauge is stated on every pattern: swatch first, and change hook size if your swatch does not match, particularly for anything that has to fit.
Yardage figures are measured from the finished piece. Yours may differ if your tension is looser or tighter, so buy a little more than the number states for anything where running out mid-row would be a problem.
Safety
Items made for babies and small children are your responsibility to make safe — securely fastened parts, no loose ties or long loops, and no small pieces that can come away. Nothing on this site is a safety certification.
Liability
This site is provided as it is, without warranty. To the extent the law allows, it is not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the patterns or the site. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud, where the law does not permit that limit.
External links
Where this site links elsewhere, that site's content is its own responsibility.
Changes
These terms may be updated and the date at the top will change with them. Questions to hello@theweekendfolio.com.
